Twins Win! Taylor Swift and WNBA Expansion are Coming!

The Best Crowds in Target Field History

The Minnesota Twins ended a pair of postseason streaks, winning their first playoff game in 19 tries and then their first playoff series since 2002 with their sweep of Toronto in the American League Wild Card round.

  • My throat still hurts from all the shouting we did in Game 2.
    • We were the better team in the big moments, and we won with and without home runs
    • Really proud of Twins fans for the first time in Target Field history. They supported Sonny Gray when he struggled early in Game 2, and were an obvious problem for the Blue Jays in both games. Outside of Philadelphia, I think the Twins had the best home field advantage in the first round.
    • I exited the stadium high-fiving fans on both sides of me, telling them “I’m proud of you” and “great performance, you were great today.”
  • The Twins will start Bailey Ober in Game 1 at Houston
    • Not the best numbers against the Astros: 14 hits in 42 at-bats with three dingers, two triples and two doubles (.951 OPS)
      • Even worse at Minute Maid Park: seven hits allowed in 22 at-bats with two homers and a double (.984 OPS)
    • Could be a short start with Maeda relieving (.814 OPS allowed to Houston)
    • Twins haven’t won a road playoff game in their last eight attempts
      • Like our chances in our 10th try?

Celebrating WNBA Expansion and the Best Finals in League History

The Las Vegas Aces will host the New York Liberty for the first game of the WNBA Finals on Sunday at 2 p.m. on ABC. The league announced that the Golden State Warriors have paid a record high expansion fee to add a 13th team to the league in 2025.

  • Portland is expected to be the next expansion team added, with Toronto not likely far behind
    • Whether another is added for 2025 is unknown
  • Does this make Caitlin Clark more or less likely to stay in school another year?
