Opening Arguments

The People vs. Dana White

“While Dana While says losing his UFC perch would be no punishment to him, Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel has been slammed by the California Legislative Women’s Caucus for continued ilence after a leaked video showed the sports boss slapping his wife at a New Year’s Eve party in Mexico, Deadline reports.”

NIL vs. the NCAA

“If the NCAA has its way, Congress will pass legislation to nationalize NIL rules, declare that college athletes aren’t employees and insulate amateurism from antitrust scrutiny.”

Detroit Police and Fire Retirement System vs. Vince McMahon and WWE

“Detroit’s Police and Fire Retirement System sued WWE executive chairman Vince McMahon last Thursday, seeking a declaration that would effectively block the 77-year-old billionaire from regaining control of WWE’s board of directors and prevent him from expediting a sale. The retirement system requests that its complaint, which was filed in Delaware’s Court of Chancery, be recognized as a class action on behalf of other WWE stockholders. The complaint could slow a potential sale of WWE, which has an enterprise value of $8.6 billion according to Sportico’s estimates.” (Source: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/detroit-cops-sue-wwe-mcmahon-140000033.html)

Nick Kyrgios Pleads Guilty to Assault; Case Dismissed

Nick Kyrgios pleaded guilty to assault, but “Magistrate Jane Campbell didn’t record a conviction against Kyrgios for reasons including that the offense was at the low end of seriousness for a common assault, and was not premeditated.” (Source: espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/35580302/nick-kyrgios-pleads-guilty-assault-no-conviction-recorded)

Kyrgios issued a very apologetic statement. He’s struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts in the past, and continues to struggle with depression as a result of his recent knee surgery that kept him out of the Australian Open.

Men’s Ball Used in First Half of Duke/FSU Women’s Basketball Game

  • How the fuck does this happen??
    • Another indication that the NCAA is incapable of governing collegiate athletics, and really doesn’t care to when it comes to women’s sports
      • Last year’s (and every year prior) NCAA Women’s College Basketball Tournament proved that
  • How can we make sure it never happens again?

“The Blue Devils were 7-for-34 from the field in the opening 20 minutes of that game. They were 12-for-38 in the second half. Florida State made 10 of its 30 shots in the first two quarters and 14 of 31 in the second half.” (Source: https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/35580414/duke-kara-lawson-says-men-ball-used-1st-half-vs-fsu)
